A Thana doula (End of Life Doula) is a non-medical assistant who is trained to care for a dying person and their family holistically, in the last phase of life. Thana doulas know what to expect physically, emotionally and spiritually as someone’s body declines and can gage what interventions may be needed for optimum comfort. The Thana doula’s mission is to provide and raise the standard of care for the dying.

Vancouver Island Thana Doulas is an organization started by Theresa Whitely and Jane Loney. Both Jane and Theresa are passionate about working with people who wish to die on their own terms with support.
